200 - SURGEON VISIT- General surgeon reviews all patient information and conducts additional examinations. The general surgeon and patient also develops the next plan of action.
200.1 Provide complete and updated information on transportation systems and alternatives available in the community and assist in accessing transportation when needed.
200.2 Train and encourage treating physician and staff to assess the sociological ability of patients to comply to the treatment plan. Refer potential problem to the Primary Care Providers. Evaluate eligibility of other family members for screening.
200.3 Reduce fear by providing one-on-one education and support and referral to appropriate support organizations.
200.4 Provide multi-language, culturally sensitive translation at any appointment.
200.5 Provide knowledgeable, language appropriate, patient navigators (either cancer survivors or some history of cancer awareness) to accompany patient to doctor and therapy appointments.
200.6 Encourage communication among the Primary Care Provider and the General Surgeon.
