“After completing my first year in the MPP program, I can honestly say that it is the most practical education I have ever received. As a manager in municipal government, I have new analytical skills with which to frame the issues confronting my agency and city, as well as new skills in ethical and collaborative leadership with which to address those issues.

The workload is intense and challenging. The faculty fosters a collegial atmosphere where active participation is not only encouraged, but expected. I have learned as much from the diverse viewpoints of my classmates as from the coursework. I strongly recommend this program to anyone interested in acquiring practical knowledge and skills with which to affect change in the public or political sectors."

Admission to the MPP Program

Fall 2008 Admissions Information

The MPP program is a collaborative effort between the Leon & Sylvia Panetta Institute for Public Policy and the Department of Health, Human Services, & Public Policy (HHSPP) at CSUMB.  Leon Panetta and the Panetta Institute provide outstanding faculty and support to the program, while HHSPP is its administrative home, providing faculty and leadership for program development and implementation.

We welcome your interest in our program.  The current admissions cycle is for the Fall 2008 semester.  Applications are accepted only for fall semester each year.  We do not have spring admissions for this program.

You may download printable application materials from the links below.  The CSU application may be completed and submitted online, but all other documents must be submitted in hard copy.  A detailed checklist of items that must be included in your application package can be found on the Supplemental Application/Checklist.

Submitting one complete package of application materials is essential to a timely review by the Admissions Committee.  The complete application package must be received by the HHSPP office no later than 5:00pm on February 1, 2008 for priority review.  (Please see the attached checklist of required application materials).  The Admissions Committee will send notification letters no later than March 20, 2008 for priority applications.  If seats are still available after the priority review, additional applications submitted no later than March 14, 2008 may be considered, with notification by May 15, 2008.  Enrollment is capped and admissions competitive, so early applications are strongly encouraged. (Note: Obtaining transcripts and letters of recommendation can take some time, so please plan to request these as early as possible.)

Faculty members are available to discuss the program and answer questions, so if you need additional information, please contact us at 831-582-3565 or by email at mpp@csumb.edu.

We look forward to receiving your application package for the Fall 2008 semester!
