- University
Learning Requirement Advising- Students
looking to be advised on general University Learning
Requirements (ULRs) should seek guidance from Student
Academic Advising. Student
Academic Advising is a support program
designed to help CSUMB students learn more about the
University Learning Requirements and plan their general
education learning experiences in an outcomes-based
educational environment.
- CHHS MLO
and Graduation Requirement Advising - The
role of the CHHS Faculty Advisor is to advise students on their Individual Learning Plans (ILP) through the major,
making sure the student knows how and when they will
complete all CHHS Graduation
Requirements. Lower division students at CSUMB are encouraged to meet with one of the major advisors the semester PRIOR to beginning their upper division work to plan their first semester's work. Upper division transfer students will be assigned a temporary advisor by the Admissions and Records office to help them through the initial process. All students will have access to faculty advisors once they have declared CHHS as their major and are enrolled in the CHHS 300 - Major Proseminar course. Joy Rubey, Miguel Tirado, Kim Judson, and Ignacio Navarro are the current CHHS Faculty Advisors. It is the student's responsibility to contact and make appointments with an advisor as needed. Students can meet with advisors by signing up at the 86D front desk for an appointment with a faculty advisor on duty. Advising issues that can be addressed via email can be sent to CHHSadvising@csumb.edu for a response from a faculty advisor. A peer advisor is also available to meet with students and can be reached at 582-4163.
- Individual
Learning Plan (ILP) - Every
student declared as a CHHS major is required to create
and submit an Individual Learning Plan for advisor
approval and signature. A Learning Plan is an outline
of all CHHS Major Learning Outcomes and Graduation
Requirements, where the student designates how
and when they plan on completing each
requirement. There are
a few ways a student may go about creating their Individual
Learning Plan as noted below.
1.) Students
can got to the department office and pick up an ILP worksheet
to fill out.
2.) Download and print out the ILP worksheet below in either MSWord or Adobe Acrobat format.
