Field-based
education plays a major role in the training of community
health and social work professionals at CHHS. We provide
students with a unique opportunity to apply what they
learn in their courses to "real life" internships
through the Field Practice Program. Students are required
to complete 400 hours of field practice in a health
or
human services agency during their program of study.
Students, faculty and staff collaborate with public,
nonprofit and
community service providers throughout the tri-county
area (Monterey, Santa Cruz and San Benito) to ensure
a
wide variety of field practice opportunities for CHHS
students.
Field-based internships provide students with the extraordinary
opportunity to fulfill CHHS and CSUMB academic requirements
while developing hands-on professional skills in a variety
of health and human service agencies, and develop a professional
resume and network for future career opportunities.
